This is my Credit Motivation

I am passionate about entrepreneurship, and therefore, I aim to pursue a one-year Master of Science in Entrepreneurship at the University of Amsterdam. The master's program is a joint degree together with the VU University and starts in September 2021. For this joint degree, I am looking for funding.

I am Hannes, a 31-year-old Swiss-German. In 2015 I completed my Bachelors in Economics and Sociology in Germany (University of Göttingen) and lived afterward in Zurich, where I worked with Innofact AG and Parkview AG and was active in the ETH Entrepreneur Club.

For the last two and a half years, I have been working in the startup ecosystem in Ethiopia, leading an incubation program in partnership with the UNDP and the government's Jobs Creation Commission to support local entrepreneurs.

As I believe entrepreneurs can positively impact society by building strong and sustainable companies, I now want to build my network and skills with the Master at the University of Amsterdam. The Master's in Entrepreneurship provides opportunities to become an entrepreneur, and at the same time to work with established organizations. Multiple organizations are looking for ways to increase their innovation; as a result, entrepreneurial skills are in high demand. After the master, I plan to work in a private company or as a consultant in an international organization such as the World Bank, UNDP, KfW, or GIZ. Salaries for consultants in these organizations are around CHF 100'000, which I will use to repay the funding within 30 months.

The monthly living cost in Amsterdam is approximately 1700 Swiss Franks (including costs such as rent, groceries, insurance, transportation, study materials, semester fees, etc.).

To cover for the Master in Entrepreneurship at the University of Amsterdam and VU University, I am looking for funding of 20'000 Swiss Francs.

Plans after study

After the master's degree, my goal is to start a job that will allow me to repay the debt. I plan to work for a private company or work with established organizations, such as the World Bank, UNDP, KfW, or GIZ. As More and more organizations are applying new venturing initiatives such as incubation programs, entrepreneurial graduates are needed to bring to life innovative business ideas. With this, I can put my entrepreneurial skills to use for companies and organizations to positively impact society.

My brother, who is working as an engineer in the helicopter division at the RUAG AG in Alpnach, Switzerland, will pledge for me to guarantee the investment is paid back.
